ABOUT QLP
A History of Excellence
The Cottle family has been in the business of lightning protection for four generations. In 1976, Oran Cottle and Thomas J. Cottle, Jr. came together to form Quality Lightning Protection, a company that would grow into a leader in lightning protection in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic United States.

In 2015, Thomas J. Cottle, Jr. passed away. Tommy, as he was affectionately known, was born on Thanksgiving in Turkey, NC. He began working in the family business when he was just a teenager and stayed there for the rest of his life. He was a self-made, astute, and dynamic businessman who never accepted failure. He felt a sense of responsibility to his family, to his employees, and to his employees' families.

Mr. Cottle's powerful presence still looms large over the company, even in his passing. We operate QLP under the same principles that defined his leadership: excellence in service, quality, and customization. We take great pride in being a small, family-owned business. It means we can provide personal attention and a high level of communication to each of our contractors and clients.
